Minimally Invasive Discectomy

For patients who have compressed nerve roots as the result of herniated discs a minimally invasive discectomy may be recommended. This procedure, which takes less than 60 minutes includes very small incisions to remove the damaged disc while limiting damage to the surrounding muscles, tendons and ligaments.   Most patients return home the same day as surgery.  Activity levels, pain management and care of the incision will be thoroughly discussed with the patient prior to and after the procedure.
